Area Prep Baseball Report for Saturday, March 23

The outstanding season continues for Chalmette, thanks to superb pitching.

Bryce Wilson continued his superb season, pitching a 2-hitter to pace the Owls to a 3-0 home win over E.D. White Catholic Friday evening at Noel Suarez Stadium. Wilson walked just one and struck out nine, using just 72 pitches.

It was the sixth straight win for Chalmette and it was 10th shutout victory of the season for the Owls.

Chalmette scored the only run it would need in the bottom of the first inning when Cole Armstrong was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and added two insurance runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Evan Jacob before Joe Monaghan scored on a wild pitch. The Owls won despite producing just one hit, a single by Marcus Campbell in the sixth inning.

Chalmette (16-2), eighth in the Non-Select Division I power ratings, returns to action today at Terrebonne at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals (9-8) play at Hahnville today at 2 p.m.

Belle Chasse erupted for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to overcome Country Day 12-10 at Pontiff Playground Friday.

The game was tied 1-1 after two innings before the Cardinals took a 4-2 lead after three innings. The Cajuns scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added another run in the fifth to take a 7-4 lead.

The Cardinals then had the big inning to take a 12-7 lead. Country Day answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth but fell short.

Jacob Black homered, doubled and drove in four runs while Blaise Galmiche and Tate Dickinson each had two hits and two RBI and Christian Mouriz had a hit and two RBI. Hudson Faucheux picked up the win for the Cardinals.

Belle Chasse (11-5) will play New Orleans Military & Maritime today at noon while Country Day (5-8) will play at Pope John Paul II Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
