Wrestling: Shaw, Rummel, De La Salle, Lakeshore win Wednesday

Archbishop Shaw may be the prime contender to the dominant program of Teurlings Catholic for the Division II state wrestling crown in 2022.

The Eagles continued to impress, downing Belle Chasse 66-12 Wednesday.

Shaw won six of the seven matches contested.

Winning by fall for the Eagles were Blake Andre (106), Giovanni Malta (113), Nicholas Langley (152), Todd Ritter (160), Zalen Wilson (182) and Jude Monaco (195).

Winning by pin for Belle Chasse was Caleb Andres (138).

Another contender in Division II is Archbishop Rummel.

The Raiders won a pair of duals Wednesday night, defeating Pearl River 60-24 and downing Lakeshore 53-24.

Rummel won six of nine matches against the Rebels.

Scoring pins for the Raiders were Kaiden Triche (106), Jake Brandstetter (120), Mason Scholl (138), Cameron Gandolfi (145), Zachary Truxillo (170) and Neil Borne (182).

Winning by fall for Pearl River were Joseph Keller (160), Riley Halbrook (220) and Gabriel Whittington (285).

Rummel won eight of 10 matches against Lakeshore.

Winning by pin for the Raiders were Triche (106), Nathan Heater (113), Anthony Catalanotto (132), Carter Burgess (138), Austen Shook (145), Zachary Truxillo (160) and Borne (182).

Scoring falls for the Titans were Tyler Baumy (152) and Carter Davis (285).

Lakeshore defeated Pearl River 63-18.

The Ttitans won seven of nine matches contested.

Winning by pin for Lakeshore were Bryce Latino (106), Luke Latino (120), George Piccolo (138), Kade Miller (145). Alejandro Canas (170) and Bryce Laujanie (182).

Scoring falls for Pearl River were Halbrook (220) and Whittington (285).

De La Salle is a major contender for state honors in Division III.

The Cavaliers scored an impressive 45-33 victory over Division I power Holy Cross.

De La Salle won seven of the 12 matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Cavaliers were Dylan Duvernay (106), Bryce Oufnac (126), Malachi Benetrix (138), Liam O’Connor (145), Luke Robertson (170) and Jason Krail (182).

Winning by pin for the Tigers were Jacob Britt (113), Matthew Krail (120), Ethan Regis (195) and Layden McDonald (220).
