Wrestling: Catholic, Fontainebleau, Pearl River, Rummel score wins in tri-meet action

It is an annual ritual.

Catholic of Baton Rouge is always a strong player and contender in Division I wrestling.

The Bears will certainly play that role again this season.

In tri-meet action Wednesday, Catholic whipped Archbishop Rummel and Comeaux.

The Bears took down the Raiders 61-7.

Catholic won eight of the ten matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Bears were Ethan Winchester (120), Kristopher Kleinpeter (138), Peter Kelly (145), Michael Price (160) and Richard Carroll (170).

Winners for the Raiders included Jacob Ramirez (152) and Marcus Vazquez (182).

Catholic also downed Comeaux 65-12.

The Bears won seven of the nine matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Bears were Luke Caballero (106), Grant Grizzaffi (113), Kelly (145), Gavin Schwartz (152), Price (160), Lance Landry (170) and Morgan Burke (182)

Hudson Wilkinson (138) and Morgan Burke (182) won by pin for Comeaux.

The Raiders defeated Comeaux 33-27. The two teams split the eight matches contested.

Scoring falls for Rummel were Stephen Kimball (106), Carter Burgess (126) and Ramirez (152).

Winning by pin for the Spartans were Bryce Reiter (138), Avery Porche (145) and Burke (182).

Rummel is awaiting the presence of several wrestlers from its football team, whenever its season concludes.

In another tri-meet, Fontainebleau defeated Pearl River and Mandeville while the Rebels downed the Skippers.

The Bulldogs handed Pearl River 72-9 as Fontainebleau won 10 of the 12 matches contested.

Fontainebleau downed Mandeville 54-24.

The Skippers actually won five of the seven matches contested but the Bulldogs won several by forfeit to take the victory.

Winning by fall for the Bulldogs were David Cuccia (126) and Seth Lewis (160).

Pearl River downed Mandeville 48-24.

The two teams split the six matches contested with the Rebels winning several matches by forfeit to take the victory.
