Winter weather forcing prep postponements Tuesday evening
The winter weather advisory for southeast Louisiana is causing schools throughout the area to make changes to sports schedules.
In Jefferson, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington and Lafourche parishes, all after-school events on Tuesday – including basketball games – have been postponed. Tangipahoa and Washington schools were dismissing by no later than noon Tuesday.
All after-school activities are canceled Tuesday and all STPPS Schools and offices closed Wednesday due to possible winter weather.

The St. Augustine-Holy Cross game has been postponed. It had originally been moved up to a 6 p.m. tipoff and only the varsity game would have been played.
Brother Martin confirmed the postponement of tonight’s district basketball games with Jesuit and the district wrestling dual meet between the two schools originally slated for Wednesday evening.
The other scheduled Catholic league boys hoops game – Shaw at Curtis – has also been postponed.
All basketball games in the Baton Rouge area have been postponed, including Archbishop Rummel’s scheduled non-district game with Catholic High. Some had planned to reschedule for Wednesday, but with many schools in the area also closing Wednesday, that is still uncertain.

Many other schools have also postponed sports events and canceled school.
