Volleyball: Slidell, Chalmette, Ben Franklin among winners Thursday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Oct. 13

Slidell downed Ponchatoula 25-12, 25-14, 20-25, 25-17 at home in a District 5-I match Thursday.

Reagan Robinson led the attack with 24 kills and 16 digs, Demoni Lewis had six kills, 13 digs and three aces, Ava Labat had three kills, six digs and 57 assists, Ava Barduca had 10 kills, Addy Dowell had two kills and six blocks and Ella Kate Spilling had 15 digs.

Slidell (27-3, 3-0), fifth in the Division I power rankings, has won seven straight matches and the Tigers return to district play next Tuesday at Mandeville at 5:30 p.m.

The Green Wave (14-10, 0-3) will travel to Walker next Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a non-district contest.

Chalmette easily handled West Jefferson 25-3, 25-8, 25-7 in Harvey.

JoDee Michael finished with nine kills and served nine aces, Gabrielle Landry had seven kills with six aces and Jade Hill had six kills to pace the Owls. Alivyah Peters had 21 assists.

The Owls (18-9, 2-0) will host Mount Carmel Academy next Wednesday at 5:30 in district play.

The Buccaneers (6-8, 0-2) will play at Fisher on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

In a battle of top teams in their respective classes, Ben Franklin downed John Curtis Christian 25-22, 25-23, 25-21 on the Lakefront.

Aubrey Muirhead and Cori Staes each had 12 kills to lead the way for the Falcons.

Ben Franklin (20-6) is ranked third in the Division II power rankings. The Falcons, who have now won six straight matches, will host McDonogh 35 Monday at 4:30 p.m. in a District 8-II match.

The Patriots (20-3), ranked first in the Division IV power rankings, will host International High next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
