Volleyball Report: St. Scholastica sweeps Sacred Heart

In action Tuesday, St. Scholastica scored its second win over Academy of The Sacred Heart, downing the Cardinals 25-12, 25-19, 25-19.

Aixa Crespo led the way with nine kills while Madison Meyers had seven kills for the Doves (15-4). Evey Waguespak had 12 assists while Kellie Garraway had 12 digs for SSA. Sophie Capella and Lindsay McGaw each had six kills to pace the Cardinals (6-7).

The Doves return to District 5-II play Thursday at 4 p.m. at Salmen while the Cardinals play at Newman Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in District 7-IV action.

Mount Carmel, Teurlings Catholic, Vandebilt Catholic, Pope John Paul II and McGehee are the top-ranked teams in the latest power ratings released by the LHSAA Tuesday.

In Division I, Mount Carmel (19-3) is first with East Ascension second. Northshore is third with Ponchatoula fourth and Ruston fifth. Dominican is No. 10.

In Division II, Teurlings Catholic (17-0) is overwhelmingly No. 1 with Ben Franklin second. Terrebonne is third with Assumption fourth and South Terrebonne fifth. St. Scholastica is sixth with Cabrini ninth and Karr tenth.

Vandebilt Catholic (16-4) has moved into the top spot in Division III with Parkview Baptist now second. St. Michael the Archangel is third with Ursuline fourth and Springfield fifth.

In Division IV, Pope John Paul II (23-3) remains on top with Notre Dame second. Riverside is third, University is fourth and Archbishop Hannan is fifth.

In Division V, unbeaten McGehee (22-0) remains the top-rated team with Country Day second. Ascension Episcopal is third, St. John is fourth and St. Martin’s Episcopal is fifth.
