Volleyball: Pope John Paul II beats Lakeshore; Dominican rolls past Cabrini, Morris Jeff wins

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Oct. 6

Pope John Paul II fought off Lakeshore 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 25-17 at home for its fourth straight victory.

Ali Tullis led the way for the Jaguars, recording a rare triple-double with 46 assists, 17 digs and 10 kills and served three aces as well.

Kayla Benedic had 12 kills and 25 digs, along with an ace and a block while Chloe Smith had 12 kills, 20 digs, five blocks and three aces. Gabby Beaudette finished with 10 kills and Reagan McVay had 29 digs.

Pope John Paul II (10-4) will host Northlake Christian next Tuesday in a District 5-IV matchup. The Titans (5-6) will play at Salmen Thursday at 4:30 in a District 5-II battle.

Dominican remains the top team in the Division I state rankings.

The two-time defending state champion rolled over Cabrini 25-7, 25-9, 25-18 at home.

Cam Chatellier led the way with eight kills and three blocks, Zoe Smith had eight kills and 12 digs, Anne Hardouin had seven kills and 11 digs and Gabby Marcello had 24 assists and three aces.

Dominican (21-1) will host Grace King today at 5:30 p.m. in a District 7-1 matchup. The Crescents (6-11) will travel to Morris Jeff next Tuesday in a District 9-III contest.

Morris Jeff handled Rosenwald Academy 25-17, 25-22, 25-10.

It was all about the service game of the Pelicans.

Senior Jadyn Irvin served 20 aces while senior Jonea Green had 11 aces and four kills for the Pelicans (7-6) who face Cabrini next Tuesday. The Pride (1-12) are back in action Thursday, hosting Fisher at 5 p.m.
