Volleyball: Mount Carmel, Archbishop Hannan earn impressive wins Wednesday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, August 31

It was a battle of traditional powers with multiple state championships to their credit. The Division I power proved a little too much to handle for the Division V power Wednesday.

Mount Carmel Academy scored a 25-17, 26-24, 18-25, 25-13 victory over Country Day in Lakeview.

Junior Emily Caracci had 10 kills while junior Olivia Meyer added seven kills and 10 digs. Senior Nola Sevin had 12 digs. Junior Emma Richey produced six kills, 36 assists, five digs and served two aces.

The Cubs (2-0) will host Vandebilt Catholic next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Cajuns are back in action today, hosting St. Scholastica at 5:30 p.m.

Archbishop Hannan opened its season with an impressive 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 home win over Archbishop Chapelle.

Sophia Bonnafee led the Hawks with 19 kills, Mia Foster had eight kills and Reese Foster added seven kills. Sarah Kirsch had 42 assists and two aces. Miranda Holincheck and Avery Lewis each had 15 digs and Lewis served a pair of aces.

Hannan is back in action today, hosting St. Michael at 5:30 p.m. while the Chipmunks (0-2) travel to St. Joseph’s Academy next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
