Volleyball: Hannan downed Mount Carmel; AOL, Ben Franklin victorious Monday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Tuesday, Oct. 17

Archbishop Hannan remains the top-ranked team in the Division III power ratings.

The Hawks showed why once again Monday.

Hannan went to Lakeview and took down Division I power Mount Carmel Academy 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17.

Sophia Bonnaffee led the Hawks with 21 kills and 14 digs while Mia Phillips had 12 kills. Sarah Kirsch finished with 49 assists and Miranda Holincheck produced 30 digs and served three aces. Alyna Durey and Avery Lewis each had 15 digs.

Emily Caracci led Mount Carmel with 18 kills, six digs and four blocks while Giselle Estrada had 16 kills and eight digs. Brooke Darrah added 14 kills and three digs.

Archbishop Hannan (33-3) returns to action today, hosting Bogalusa in a District 7-III match at 5:30 p.m.

The Cubs (27-8), second in the Division I power ratings, will travel to Chalmette Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a District 5-I match.

Academy of Our Lady won at Cabrini 25-19, 25-20, 25-19.

Lillian Daviss led the Penguins with 12 kills while Abby Cao had 25 assists and served three aces. Ella Treadway added eight digs.

AOL (24-4), fifth in the most recent Division II power ratings, returns to action today at Higgins at 4:30 p.m. in a District 7-II match.

The Crescents (15-20) plays today, traveling to Livingston Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. in District 9-III action.

Ben Franklin downed McDonogh 35 by scores of 25-8, 25-17, 25-23 at home in a District 8-II match for its 12th straight win in a showdown for first place in the league.

Annika Robertson had 16 kills and four blocks, Cori Stars had 15 kills and two aces and Lilly Mayes finished with 13 digs and five aces.

The Falcons (26-6, 4-0) returns to district play Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at McMain.

The Roneagles (21-4, 3-1) saw their four-match win streak end. McDonogh 35 will play at Riverdale Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in district play.
