Volleyball: Dominican, John Curtis, Haynes, Vandebilt Catholic post wins Tuesday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, October 11

Dominican continued to roll, taking care of John Ehret 25-7, 25-12, 25-8 at home Tuesday in a District 7-I match.

Junior Zoie Mitchell had eight kills while senior Tamia Williams and junior Finley Nunez each had six kills. Nunez added nine digs. Junior Lauren Pipitone served six aces and had eight digs and junior Rachel Zamjahn had five aces and 12 assists. Junior Olivia Ranson had seven digs. Freshman Aurore Tortorich had eight digs. Senior Gabby Marcello had eight assists.

Dominican (23-1, 2-0) faces a huge match at district rival Mount Carmel Academy today at 5:30 p.m.

John Ehret (14-9, 0-2) will host Archbishop Chapelle Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in a district contest.

John Curtis Christian downed Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans 25-10, 25-20, 25-19 at home in District 8-IV competition.

Freshman Makayla Morter led the way with 12 kills and six digs while sophomore Ina Smith had 10 kills and five blocks. Senior Imari Daniel and sophomore Addilyn Dufrene each had five kills. Daniel added five blocks and three aces and Dufrene had four digs. Sophomore Alyzia Cola-Grayson had 31 assists and nine digs and junior Marissa Taix added seven digs and four assists.

The Patriots (20-2, 2-1) face a stiff test Thursday at Ben Franklin at 5:30 p.m.

The Cardinals (19-11) will travel to Ursuline Academy Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Haynes Academy defeated the Willow School 25-14, 25-10, 25-10 in a District 10-III match.

Virginia Voitier led the Yellow Jackets with 14 kills and six digs, Marilyn Voitier had 11 kills and five digs, Ella Feehan had 10 digs and three aces and Cameron Vaughn had 19 assists and three aces.

Haynes (16-6, 3-0) is back in action in a non-district match at St. Martin’s Episcopal today at 4:30 p.m.

The Lions (7-11) return to action Thursday at Newman at 5:30 p.m. in a non-district contest.

Vandebilt Catholic handled Central Lafourche 25-17, 25-22, 25-9 at home.

Junior Neal Grace Berry led the Terriers with 17 kills and seven digs and junior Kinley Seebode had six kills. Senior Camryn Starr had three blocks. Senior Ella Rau had eight digs. Senior Mackenzie Glynn has 23 assists and sophomore Ava Smith had eight assists.

Vandebilt Catholic (19-6) return to action today, hosting Central Catholic at 4 p.m.

The Trojans (17-13) play at Hahnville at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in District 6-I action.
