Volleyball: Dominican downs Country Day; Haynes, John Curtis, Slidell win Wednesday

Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, October 19

In a battle of defending state champions, Dominican handled Country Day 25-17, 25-19, 25-12.

Cam Chatellier led the way with 16 kills and two blocks and Tamia Williams had 10 kills and three blocks. Gabby Marcello had 34 assists while Lauren Pipitone had 25 digs and Maia Bruglio had 20 digs.

Dominican (31-2), first in the Division I power ratings, returns to action next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Bonnabel in District 7-I action.

The Cajuns (18-9), first in the Division V power ratings, are back in action today, hosting St. Katharine Drexel today at 5:30 p.m. in a District 9-V contest.

Haynes Academy rolled over McGehee 25-14, 25-14, 25-11 Wednesday at McGehee.

Virginia Voitier led the way with 10 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Isabella Granados had eight kills, 15 assists and eight digs, Marilyn Voitier had nine kills, 11 digs and two blocks and Ella Feehan finished with 14 digs.

The Yellow Jackets (20-9) will host John Curtis Christian Monday at 5:30 p.m. in a good matchup.

The Hawks (19-9) will play at M.L. King Charter next Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a District 9-V contest.

John Curtis downed Thomas Jefferson 25-8, 26-24, 25-19 at home.

Kennedy O’Brien led the Patriots with eight kills and Addilyn Dufrene had seven kills and three blocks. Imani Daniel and Ina Smith each finished with five kills. Alyzia Cola-Grayson served 10 aces and produced 32 assists and Marissa Taix had five aces and 10 digs.

John Curtis (25-5) return to action today at Crescent City Christian at 5:30 p.m.

The Jaguars (17-22) will play next Tuesday at South Plaquemines at 4:30 p.m.

Slidell bounced back with a solid 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 win at Hammond in District 5-I play.

Ava Barduca, Kayla Rachel and Reagan Robinson each finished with 10 kills. Robinson added 23 digs and three aces while Barduca had five blocks. Ava Labat dished up 42 assists and Ella Kate Spilling contributed 10 digs.

The Tigers (31-5, 4-1) host Fontainebleau next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in district action while the Tornadoes (12-14, 0-4) return to district play next Tuesday as well, at 5:30 p.m. at Ponchatoula.
