A trio of New Orleans-area products – Edna Karr’s Greedy Vance, John Curtis’ Corey Wren, and Brother Martin’s Corey Lambert, Jr. – recently entered the transfer portal; two appear to have found new homes.

Vance is headed to USC for his final college campaign and Wren is pledged to UTEP while Lambert is still taking visits.

A former Edna Karr cornerback and three-star recruit from the 2020 class, Vance originally signed with Louisville before transferring to Florida State where he played for the past two seasons. The 5-11, 170-pounder appeared in 27 contests for the Seminoles over the past two years with five starts.

During his five college seasons thus far, Vance has totaled 71 tackles, four interceptions and 12 passes broken up at both Louisville and Florida State.

Wren has spent his entire career at TCU. The former three-star prospect in the 2020 class has been limited to 61 yards rushing for the Horned Frogs but played in every game last season.

The 5-10, 195-pounder is blessed with exceptional speed. Wren ran a 10.41 hundred meters at John Curtis, which was the fifth fastest in the country in 2019 and the best time in Louisiana. He also broke the state record at John Curtis with a 6.79-second 60 meters.

Wren totaled 3,126 all-purpose yards at Curtis with 36 touchdowns, and 2,302 of those yards came on the ground where he averaged 11.4 yards per carry. He arrives as a grad transfer with the Miners.

In the 2020 class, Wren was the 20th ranked prospect in the Pelican State, while Vance was slotted in the 24th spot.

Lambert, Jr. was a three-star prospect in the 2022 class, signing with Colorado State. The 5-11, 215-pound safety considered Illinois, Nevada, Duke and Memphis during his recruitment in ’22.

The outgoing transfer portal number at Tulane has reached 11 since the beginning of March. The latest three entrants are cornerback Jai Eugene, cornerback D.K. McGruder, and offensive lineman Noah Gardner.

Eugene, a 6-1, 185-pounder, participated in spring drills which concluded a little over a week ago and represented himself well. He was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class out of Destrehan. He entered the portal on April 25th.

Gardner (6-6, 300) from Lucas, Texas, was a three-star in the ’23 class. He did not see the field as a true freshman for the Wave.

During his recruitment, Gardner took a pair of unofficial visits to Florida State and Kansas State. He also received interest from ULL, California, Texas State, Furman, LeHigh, Navy, Louisiana Tech, Army, and Houston Baptist.

The 6-3, 178-pound McGruder is an intriguing prospect in the portal. The Natchez, Miss. native played last season at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC but originally committed to Troy while head coach Jon Sumrall was there. He signed with Tulane in the 2024 class, seemingly because of Sumrall’s arrival, but entered the transfer portal in the past few days.

Former LSU 2024 signee Jo Cryer out of Natchitoches Central High School went through spring drills with the Tigers, spending most of his reps at right guard. He entered the portal on April 23 and garnered interest from both UNLV and Duke.

Another former Tiger who entered the portal a while back, Bryce Langston, has apparently found a new home with Florida Atlantic. He was a four-star in the 2021 class.

With the most recent movement, LSU has had eight players enter the portal.
