GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – Tulane dropped its final game of the Cayman Islands Classic 71-65 to Western Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon.

Kevin Cross led the team in points with 17, rebounds with six and six assists. Jaylen Forbes scored 14, Collin Holloway nabbed 13 points and four rebounds. In his second straight start Tre Williams scored 10 and had three assists.

The Hilltoppers shot 50% from the field to Tulane’s 42.6%. Tulane won the turnover battle 11-16 and shot better from the charity stripe at 87.5%.

In the first half Tulane led by as much as nine, but Western Kentucky cut the lead quickly going on an 11-2 run late in the half to knot it up at 29. A quick bucket from Holloway would give Tulane the lead and Forbes would seal the half with a three-point buzzer beater. Sending them to the locker room up 34-29.

Tulane was out shot in the second half with the Hilltoppers shooting 53.6% from the field and 54.5% from beyond the arc. Tulane was just 1-8 from three-point range in the second, creating a deficit they couldn’t quite get out of.

One last effort from Tulane had them down by just two with 15 seconds left to play, but it wouldn’t be enough to get past Western Kentucky.

Tulane returns to New Orleans to face ULM on Monday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
