Troy Dannen, John Fourcade, Charlie Baglio among featured GNOSF QB Club speakers Tuesday

Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen, New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame inductee Michael Lewis, LSU football director of external relations Charlie Baglio, Newman head coach Nelson Stewart and Riverdale head coach Willie Brooks will be the featured speakers at the weekly meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Rock’n’Bowl, 3016 S. Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans.

Troy Dannen, Willie FritzA native of Marshalltown, IA and graduate of Northern Iowa, Dannen is in his third year as athletic director at Tulane, where he has hired six new head coaches. Tulane student-athletes posted an impressive 3.08 GPA last school year and had 142 student-athletes named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Dannen served as athletic director at Northern Iowa from 2008-15.

John FourcadeA Gretna native, Fourcade starred at Archbishop Shaw before starring at Ole Miss. He went on to play his hometown New Orleans Saints from 1987-90. Fourcade was inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in August.

Nelson StewartA Newman graduate who played at Tulane, Stewart is in his 13th year as head coach and 20th overall at his alma mater. He recently posted his 100th career victory. Stewart guided Newman to the state semifinals a year ago for the second time in his tenure.

Willie BrooksA De La Salle graduate, Brooks is in his second year as the head coach at Riverdale after serving as the first head coach ever at Helen Cox, where he served for 12 years. He was an assistant at De La Salle between the two head coaching positions.

A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana and native of Independence, Baglio is in his 17th year with the LSU football program. He coached at Independence High School for 34, including 22 as head coach, and posted an outstanding record of 205-69 and took two of his teams to the state championship game.

Speakers from the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football will address the audience weekly, along with special guest speakers from the sports world locally and nationally.

A local high school player of the week is chosen throughout the season with a metro prep player of the year announced at the end of the season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Lunch is served weekly every Tuesday.

In addition, Chevron sponsors student-athletes of the week each week, who receive plaques and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Annual standard membership is $50. Luncheons are $20 per person for members and $25 per person for non-members for the 16 week schedule (Aug. 28-Dec. 11). All are welcome to attend.
