When you don’t give up any hits, you are likely to win. When you give up no runs, you are guaranteed to win.

Senior Kyle St. Pierre accomplished both feats, pitching a no-hitter as No. 3 Lutcher stopped No. 7 Brusly 4-0 in the Class 3A semifinals Wednesday afternoon in Sulphur.

Left-hander Kyle St. Pierre was the story, pitching a no-hitter while striking out 11.

Lutcher took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning, including an RBI single by Zack Poche, to take a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Zack Oubre to increase the lead to 3-0 before adding a run in the bottom of the fifth to complete the scoring.

Lutcher (28-6) advances to face No. 1 Sterlington in the 3A final Friday at 6 p.m. The Panthers defeated No. 5 Iowa 7-3.
