I would love to pick the Saints to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight for no other reasons than: A) I like to be contrary; B) New Orleans is tough to beat in the Superdome; and C) This would be a great win for the team.

But I can’t.

Remember, how Jay-Z once rapped: “I’ve got 99 problems, but….”

Meet problem 100 this week for the Saints.

Jacksonville is the more talented team and one of the top seven teams in the AFC. The Jaguars have a great coach Doug Pederson and a great quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. The team also has a three-game winning streak that includes a 25-20 win against the Buffalo Bills.

Sometimes you have to play the percentages.

Here is the pick: Jaguars 24, Saints 20.

Here are the other NFL picks as I make some “Sports Takes Sure To Be Wrong (Although We Know The Majority Of These Will Be Right)” for this week. (The Panthers, Bengals, Cowboys, Texans, Jets and Titans have byes this week.)

Lions 31, Ravens 27: Detroit looks like one of the top three teams in the NFC this year. The Ravens always are tough to beat at home, but the Lions have been looking ferocious lately.

Raiders 22, Bears 17: A very average Las Vegas team has been blessed with yet another game against a dysfunctional team. Umph, umph, umph.

Colts 23, Browns 20: The Browns got lucky last week with the win against the 49ers. This week Cleveland comes back down to earth.

Bills 38, Patriots 21: The Bills should be good and angry after barely beating the Giants last week. The Patriots will keep on losing to put Bill Belichick in hot water.

Commanders 27, Giants 17: The Giants played their best game of the season last week and still lost. This is a game the Commanders can’t lose if they want people to consider them to be playoff bound.

Falcons 27, Buccaneers 23: Both teams are coming off of tough losses. The temptation is to pick the Falcons, but I’ll resist since the home team has Baker Mayfield at QB.

Rams 28, Steelers 20: The Steelers are coming off of a bye, but they have more offensive issues than the Rams.

Seahawks 31, Cardinals 17: Last week’s loss against Cincinnati was a learning experience for the young Seahawks. The Cardinals will put up a fight, but this is a credibility game Seattle can’t lose.

Packers 24, Broncos 17: I wonder if Sean Payton has second thoughts about taking the Denver job. This game will be another reason for the Broncos to consider a fire sale.

Chiefs 31, Chargers 27: Despite the Chargers’ record, these are still the two best teams in the AFC West. The Chiefs are due for one of their rare letdown losses, but the Chargers don’t seem talented enough to make it happen.

Eagles 41, Dolphins 27: The Dolphins traditionally have problems stopping the run. The Eagles have a great run offense. It’s going to be a long night for Miami.

49ers 27, Vikings 20: The 49ers are banged up on offense, but their defense remains good enough to secure this win.
