Having lost two of their last three games, Archbishop Hannan was determined to erase the foul taste of defeat Wednesday at home against Lutcher.

On senior night, the Lady Hawks did so in dramatic fashion.

Gentry Spinks belted a walk-off, two-run home run to lift Archbishop Hannan over Lutcher 5-3 in an excellent non-district game.

Hannan honored its seniors, including Kaitlyn Allen, Lauren Distefano, Allie Hutton, Kennedy Martin and Caylee Palazzalo.

The Lady Hawks (18-3), ranked second in the most recent LHSAA Division II power rankings, return to District 7-3A action this afternoon at home at 4 p.m. against Loranger, weather permitting. Hannan will travel to St. Charles Catholic (18-3), another excellent team, for an intriguing non-district game Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The Lady Comets are third in the Division II power rankings and they whipped St. James 14-4 Wednesday in District 10-3A play.

The Lady Bulldogs (11-10) will host Plaquemine today at 5 p.m. in a District 6-4A contest, weather permitting.
