Softball: Mount Carmel opens with win at Hannan

Area Prep Softball Report for Saturday, Feb. 16

With persistent light rain all day Friday, very few softball games were played in the Greater New Orleans area.

One notable contest played saw Mount Carmel Academy open its 2024 season with a hard-earned 8-6 victory over Archbishop Hannan at Coquille Park.

Freshman Paige Reuther came up huge for the Cubs, belting three hits, including a pair of home runs and drove in five runs. Reuther also pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four runs while striking out four. Sophomore Hayden Traub pitched the final three innings, allowing two runs and striking out four Hawks.

Mount Carmel returns to action next Tuesday against Walker at 5 p.m. at its facility at Muss Bertolino Stadium.

Hannan (0-2) returns to action Monday at Slidell.
