Softball: Lakeshore handles St. Scholastica

Area Prep Softball Report for Thursday, April 8

Lakeshore won easily at St. Scholastica 12-2 in a District 9-4A contest Wednesday in a game shortened to five innings.

The Lady Titans jumped out early, scoring three runs in the top of the first and two in the top of the second to grab a 5-0 lead. The Doves scored two in the bottom of the second but that would be all.

Lakeshore put the game away with seven runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Alana Dumas had three hits, Cara Rankin had two hits and three RBI, Abby Colwart had two hits and two RBI and Claire Williams drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Titans.

Rankin went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits. Rankin had two strikeouts.

Lakeshore (7-10, 5-3) will play at Slidell Monday at 4 p.m. while St. Scholastica (9-10, 0-6) lost its fourth straight game and will return to district play Thursday at Salmen at 4:30 p.m.
