Softball: Hahnville, Academy of Our Lady extend win streaks

Area Prep Softball Report for Wednesday, April 6

A pair of teams getting hot at the right time kept their momentum with wins Tuesday.

Hahnville edged Mount Carmel Academy 3-2 at home.

Waguespack pitched a complete game, allowing five hits. Waguespack walked just one and struck out five. S. Roussel led the Lady Tigers attack, going 4 for 4.

Hahnville (19-10) has won four straight games and 11 of its last 13 games. The Lady Tigers host Mandeville today at 4 p.m.

The Cubs (12-15) travel to Archbishop Hannan Thursday at 5 p.m.

Academy of Our Lady whipped Thomas Jefferson 12-4.

The Jaguars scored a run in the top of the first before the Penguins answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-1 lead. AOL added three more in the second to make it 6-1 before Thomas Jefferson scored three in the third and it was 6-4. Academy of Our Lady broke it open with five runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a run in the fifth to complete the scoring.

The Penguins had 16 hits, led by Alexis Davis, who had three hits and two RBI. Clare Gauthreaux added three hits and an RBI. Caterra Bates had two hits and an RBI while Ryanna Lanier had two hits and an RBI. Gracie Toledano produced two hits and scored three runs and Jaci Camadelle and Kylie Duplan each drove in a run.

Toledano picked up the win, going the distance. Toledano allowed three earned runs on five hits. Toledano walked six and struck out two.

Academy of Our Lady (21-7) has won six straight games. The Penguins will travel to East Ascension next Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson (12-14) travels to Ursuline Academy Thursday at 4 p.m. in a District 11-3A contest.
