Prep Softball Playoff Report for Friday, April 19

E.D. White Catholic left no doubt.

The fourth-seeded Cardinals are heading to the state tournament in Sulphur after whipping No. 5 Haynes Academy 12-3 at home Thursday in the Select Division II quarterfinals.

E.D. White took control immediately, jumping out to an insurmountable 11-1 lead after three innings.

Shelbee Gros was dominant on the mound, recording 19 strikeouts to pick up the win despite issuing nine walks. Gros also had a hit and drove in a pair of runs.

E.D. White (22-9) advances to the semifinals to face the winner of today’s game pitting top seed Buckeye against No. 8 Thibodaux. Buckeye edged E.D. White 3-2 in the Select Division II quarterfinals last season.
