Area Prep Softball Report for Thurs. Feb. 28

You can always count on Belle Chasse being a solid team.

That is the case again in 2019.

The Cardinals downed Zachary 5-3 at home Wednesday to move to 3-1 on the season.

Riley Sweeney belted a 2-run home run to provide the margin of victory for the Cardinals.

Belle Chasse moves on to play in the Hahnville Tournament this weekend, opening play in the event Friday at 4 p.m. against Central Lafourche before meeting Destrehan at 8 p.m. Belle Chasse will face H.L. Bourgeois Saturday morning.

In District 6-5A action today, Mandeville travels to Ponchatoula at 4 p.m. while Northshore plays at Fontainebleau at 5:30 p.m.
