Soccer: St. Paul’s, Newman, Rummel score wins Tuesday
Area Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Dec. 23
St. Paul’s is back on track after two rare consecutive losses with two straight wins now.
The latest was a hard fought 3-2 victory over St. Louis Catholic Tuesday evening at Hunter Stadium.
It was 2-0 Wolves at the half behind goals from Caleb Nicotri and Roch Ragan.
The Saints fought back in the second half but a goal by Brennan LeBlanc provided the margin of victory for St. Paul’s.
Michael Slimming added a pair of assists for the Wolves.
St. Paul’s (12-3) faces a showdown with Mandeville Wednesday at 5 p.m. St. Louis Catholic (5-6-4) will host Sulphur on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Newman snapped a two-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory at home over Slidell.
Alex Friedlander starred for the Greenies, scoring two goals, one in each half, in an outstanding performance.
Newman (4-2) will host Dutchtown next Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. while the Tigers (0-3-2) return to action at Lakeshore on Jan. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Archbishop Rummel is an improved side this season. The Raiders won their third straight match, blanking Fontainebleau 2-0 in Metairie.
A pair of sophomores scored goals for the Raiders in CJ Koppeis and Tobo Takpor.
Rummel (7-3) will host Slidell on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. while the Bulldogs (4-4-2) lost their fourth straight game and will travel to Southside on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m.
