Soccer: St. Paul’s, Holy Cross, E.D. White, Episcopal of Acadiana maintain top spots in rankings

Off of an extremely impressive showing against top teams in California, St. Paul’s remains the unanimous top-ranked team in the state in the latest Division I Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association rankings released Monday.

The Wolves (9-1) won two of three matches in the California event, losing only in a penalty kick shootout. Catholic of Baton Rouge (5-0-1) is second with St. Amant (14-1) third. Dutchtown (7-1-1) is fourth with Lafayette (10-1-5) fifth. Northshore is sixth with Jesuit seventh and Brother Martin checks in at No. 10.

Holy Cross (5-1-1) is still the unanimous top-ranked team in Division II despite suffering its first loss. Beau Chene (8-3-3) is second with East Jefferson (7-4) third. Woodlawn of Baton Rouge (6-1) is fourth with Riverdale (8-0) fifth. Lakeshore is seventh with Ben Franklin eighth.

E.D. White Catholic (6-4-2) is the top-ranked team in Division III. The Cardinals received five first-place votes to edge out Vandebilt Catholic (5-4-1) for the top spot. The Terriers also received five first-place votes. University High (3-2-5) is third with Loyola Prep (5-7-5) fourth and St. Louis Catholic (1-5-3) fifth.

Unbeaten Episcopal of Acadiana (10-0) is the top-ranked team in Division IV with nine first-place votes. Unbeaten Northlake Christian (7-0-2) is second and the Wolverines received the other first-place vote. Newman (6-2) is third with Episcopal (6-2-4) fourth and St. Thomas Aquinas (4-3-1) is fifth. Country Day is seventh with Christ Episcopal eighth.
