Soccer: Rummel, Mount Carmel earn wins Thursday

Area Prep Soccer Report for Friday, Jan. 3

In Metairie, Rummel downed Northlake Christian 2-0 as CJ Koppeis, who scored both goals for the Raiders, including one in each half.

The Raiders (3-7-2) return to action Saturday morning at home against Ponchatoula while the Wolverines (4-4-1) will also play Ponchatoula next, on the road next Tuesday.

In girls action at the National Elite Prep Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, Mount Carmel Academy exploded for three goals in the first half and held off a second half charge by Nolan Catholic (TX) 3-2.

Chloe Burst starred for the Cubs with a pair of goals and an assist while Janie Sigur added the third goal. Lacie Earixson and Avery Hutka scored goals for the Vikings (1-4).

Mount Carmel (12-2-1) has now won six straight matches. The Cubs are fourth in the LHSAA Division I power rankings released on New Year’s Day.
