Soccer: Rummel, Holy Cross among winners Saturday

In boys prep soccer Saturday, Archbishop Rummel avenged a loss from last season with a 2-0 victory at home over East Jefferson.
After a scoreless first half, Holden Aleman and Daniel Haworth each put in a goal in the second half.
Rummel (17-4-3, 3-0-1) is set for a showdown with Jesuit Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Archbishop Rummel in the Catholic League in-season tournament. The Blue Jays are No. 1 in the Division I power ratings.
On the West Bank, Holy Cross, ranked No. 1 in the Division II power ratings, scored an impressive 3-0 win over New Orleans Military & Maritime.
Chase Duvernay, Erik Santamaria and Andrew Touro each scored a goal for the Tigers.
Holy Cross (13-4-3) will host Ben Franklin in an outstanding match Tuesday at 5 p.m.
