In a quarterfinal thriller in Division II, No. East Jefferson outlasted No 5 Holy Cross on penalty kicks after the two sided played to a 1-1 tie in regulation and overtime.

Junior Juan Diego Rivera decided the outcome, burying the winner to give the Warriors a 6-5 penalty kick victory.

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second half when Andrew Touro scored on a penalty kick but Carlos Polanco got the equalizer minutes later. Kevin Negrete was outstanding in goal for East Jefferson.

The Warriors (17-5-4), who reached the title match last season, advance to the semifinals for a second straight year to take on the winner of No. 1 Ben Franklin and No. 8 Neville, who play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Also in Division II, No. 3 seed Archbishop Rummel shut out No. 6 Ouachita Parish 6-0 in Metairie.

As usual, the two leading scorers in program history showed the way with seniors Tobo Takpor and CJ Koppeis each scoring a pair of goals.

The Raiders took control immediately with Koppeis putting Rummel on top 1-0 before Takpor scored to make it 2-0. Senior Jeffrey Ayala was next up to put it in the net and it was 3-0 at halftime.

Rummel doubled its pleasure with three second half goals as Koppeis, senior Iulian Nicolau and Takpor each scored.

The Raiders (21-5-1) are in the semifinals for the first time since 2004. Rummel will play the winner of the match between No. 2 St. Thomas More and No. 7 Grace King in the semifinals. The Cougars and Fighting Irish play Tuesday in Lafayette.

In Division III, No. 4 The Willow School blanked No. 5 E.D. White Catholic 3-0 to advance to the semifinals.

The Lions (15-4-4) will play at No. 1 seed University Lab in the semifinals. The Cubs blanked No. 8 Vandebilt Catholic 3-0.

In Division I quarterfinal action Tuesday, No. 3 Mandeville entertains No. 6 Jesuit at 6 p.m. while in
Division IV, No. 1 Newman plays host to rival and No. 8 seed Country Day at 6:30 p.m.

In girls action, No. 7 Northshore upset district rival and No. 2 seed St. Scholastica 3-2 behind a pair of goals from Mackenzie Green.

The Panthers trailed 1-0 on a goal by Mia Encinia for the Doves before scoring three straight goals and holding off the Doves for the win.

Caroline Barcelona scored on a penalty kick for Northshore. Aidan Carpenter added a goal for SSA but it was not enough.

St. Scholastica had beaten Northshore 5-1 in the regular season.

The Panthers (16-6-2) advance to the semifinals to face the winner of No. 3 Captain Shreve and No. 6 Dutchtown.

No. 5 Dominican advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 win at No. 20 St. Amant.

Dominican led 2-1 at halftime and added an insurance goal in the second half.

Dominican (18-2-6) will play No. 1 seed St. Joseph’s Academy in the semifinals. The Redstickers edged No. 9 Mount Carmel Academy 3-2.

On the girls side in Division II Tuesday, No. 2 Lakeshore entertains No. 7 Terrebonne at 5:30 p.m.
