Soccer: Newman girls advance to quarterfinals with win Tuesday

Playoff Soccer Report for Wednesday, Feb. 7

In girls soccer playoff action Tuesday, No. 5 seed Newman blanked No. 12 Calvary Baptist 5-0 at Lupin Field.

Lili Arjamand and Hannah Plaissance each scored a pair of goals while Avery Summerour added the fifth goal for the Greenies.

Newman (14-4-2) advances to the quarterfinals to take on the winner of today’s match pitting No. 11 St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 6 Westminster Christian.

Many area teams are in action today, including boys top seed Jesuit, who faces a rematch with district rival and No. 17 seed Brother Martin at 3:30 p.m.
