Area Prep Soccer Report for Sunday, Dec. 13

A highly anticipated match between two elite teams and state championship challengers Saturday did not disappoint.

Host Dutchtown and Jesuit played to a 1-1 draw in a rematch of last year’s Division I state quarterfinal matchup, won by the Griffins 2-1.

Jesuit took the early lead in the first half on a goal by Noah Relan and it was 1-0 at halftime.

David Hopkins got the equalizer in the second half for the Griffins and the two sides played on even terms the rest of the way.

Dutchtown owns a huge 2-1 win over two-time defending state champion St. Paul’s, which took place on Dec. 8.

Jesuit (3-0-2) will host another elite Division I team in Catholic of Baton Rouge on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 12:45 p.m. at John Ryan Stadium.

The Raiders shutout De La Salle 2-0 Saturday while Dutchtown (3-2-2) travels to Destrehan this Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Archbishop Rummel is an improved side this season.

The Raiders scored both goals in the first half and both were scored by talented sophomore Tobo Takpor.

Rummel (5-3) will host Acadiana next Saturday at noon while the Cavaliers (2-5) will next face St. Charles Catholic on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
