Soccer: Jesuit blanks Ben Franklin; STA whips Lakeshore

In a battle of ranked teams, it was no contest.

Seventh-ranked (Division I) Jesuit whipped eighth-ranked (Division II) Ben Franklin 4-0 on the Lakefront Tuesday.

Juniors Ashton Perkins and Max Scheurich starred for the Blue Jays, each scoring a pair of goals. Perkins assisted on the goals by Scheurich as well.

Jesuit (10-3-4) led 3-0 at halftime and added a Scheurich goal in the second half.

Jesuit returns to action Saturday against Mandeville at 6 p.m. at John Ryan Stadium while Ben Franklin (2-5-2) will next face Sterlington in the Bolton Tournament Saturday at 1 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas blanked Lakeshore 3-0 at Hammond.

Junior Adam Hetzinger starred for the Falcons with a pair of goals, one in each half, while freshman Brian Doan added the other goal for STA (5-5-3). St. Thomas Aquinas will host Northlake Christian next Tuesday at 7 p.m in District 5-IV play. The Titans (3-7-2) play at Newman Saturday at 3 p.m.
