Soccer: East Jefferson rallies past Riverdale
Area Prep Soccer Report for Thursday, Jan. 24
While rain played havoc with the prep soccer schedule Wednesday with most matches canceled, that was not the case on a turf field in Metairie.
It was a dicey start for fourth-ranked East Jefferson against Riverdale.
The Warriors fell behind the Rebels 1-0 in the first half and it remained that way by halftime. Then, the Warriors awakened in the second half, scoring three goals to overcome the Rebels 3-1 at Joe Yenni Stadium.
Junior Erick Gunera, senior Steeven Diaz and sophomore Jose Castillo each scored a goal for the Warriors while senior Erick Lara had an assist.
East Jefferson (12-2-5) returns to action Friday, hosting Brother Martin at 6 pm at Joe Yenni Stadium while Riverdale (8-4-3) plays at Salmen tomorrow evening at 7 pm.
