Soccer: Brother Martin, Rummel, Shaw, Chapelle win on pitch Wednesday

Area Prep Soccer Report for Thursday, Dec. 21

Brother Martin went to Metairie on Wednesday and downed Country Day 2-0.

The match was scoreless at halftime before Michael Lizano and Dallas Cordoba each put in a goal in the second half to provide the margin of victory.

The Crusaders improved to 3-4-3 with the victory.

Archbishop Rummel went on the road and blanked Kenner Discovery 4-0.

It was close for a half with the Raiders taking a 1-0 lead into the break before breaking it open with three second half goals.

Christopher Wallace scored a pair of goals while Holden Aleman and Matthew Hammons each added a goal for the Raiders.

Rummel (10-3) has won three straight matches. The Raiders travel to E.D. White Catholic Saturday afternoon.

The Swamp Owls (3-5-3) will travel to Ponchatoula Dec. 28.

Archbishop Shaw won its fourth straight match, defeating International 3-0 at home.

The match was scoreless at halftime before the Eagles took over in the second half.

Marvis St. Cyr scored in the 68th minute to put Shaw on top with his first goal of the season.

Henry Zelaya provided insurance with a 30-yard free kick which found the net to make it 2-0 and Amani Aurelien scored to the near post in stoppage time to provide the final margin.

Shaw (6-1-3) returns to action Friday at Lutcher.

In girls soccer action, Archbishop Chapelle downed Haynes Academy 3-1 Wednesday for its seventh straight win.

The Chipmunks (7-3) led 2-0 at halftime.

Senior Giselle Perez, eighth-grader Elizabeth Schexnayder and freshman Allisson Suazo each scored a goal for Chapelle.

The Yellow Jackets fell to 5-4-1 with the loss.
