Soccer: Ben Franklin girls roll past Country Day
It was no contest Tuesday as Ben Franklin traveled to Wenzel Field in Metairie and ripped Country Day 6-1 in girls soccer.
Savannah Dixon and Kirsten Brown each scored a pair of goals for the Falcons (4-3). Ben Franklin led 2-1 at halftime before dominating the second half. Sophia DiMarco and Simone Williams scored the other goals for Ben Franklin. Olivia Hebert scored the lone goal for the Cajuns (3-5-1).
The Falcons return to action Thursday hosting De La Salle at 3:45 p.m. while the Cajuns play at Mandeville tonight at 6:30 p.m.
A pair of ranked teams square off on the Lakefront as Jesuit travels to Ben Franklin today for a noon contest. The Blue Jays (9-3-4) are ranked seventh in the most recent Division I Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association rankings but are just 27th in the LHSAA Division I power rankings released Tuesday while the Falcons (2-4-2) are eighth in the Division II rankings but just 36th in the LHSAA Division II power rankings.
