Soccer: Belle Chasse wins opener, Lusher remains unbeaten, Swamp Owls victorious

In boys action Thursday, Belle Chasse won its long awaited season opener, blanking De La Salle 2-0.
The Cardinals led 1-0 at halftime and put the game away with a goal in the second half.
Juniors Denalie Cortes and Blaine Mouriz each scored a goal for Belle Chasse while sophomore Jorge Martinez had an assist. Senior Dylan Hopstetter pitched a shutout in goal with five saves.
The Cardinals (1-0) will host Holy Cross Friday at 5 p.m. while the Cavaliers (2-5) face Archbishop Rummel Saturday at 5 p.m.
Lusher Charter continued its excellent showing, remaining unbeaten with a 3-0 shutout of a good East Jefferson squad.
The Lions led 2-0 at halftime and added a goal to put the game away.
Senior Alexander Blanche, junior Noah Glasco and senior Elijah Otten-Rashad each scored a goal for Lusher and Otten Rashad added an assist. Senior Lyle DiCarlo and sophomore Tenchi Otten-Rashad each had an assist for the Lions.
Lusher (6-0-2) will host Ben Franklin Saturday at 4 p.m. in an intriguing matchup while the Warriors (2-2) host Grace King Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
In girls action, Kenner Discovery won on the road, defeating Higgins 4-1.
Eighth-grader Valeria Gabrie has some future. Gabrie had a hat trick and added an assist for the Swamp Owls in a brilliant performance. Junior Karley Berteau added a goal for Kenner Discovery.
Both teams return to action Monday. The Swamp Owls (4-1) travel to Academy of Our Lady at 4 p.m. while the Hurricanes (1-5) travel to Destrehan at 5 p.m.
