Area Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Dec. 11

Things looked bleak for Belle Chasse in its road match Tuesday at Ponchatoula.

The Cardinals got blitzed by the Green Wave in the first half, falling behind 3-0 by halftime. It looked like it would be an easy win for the home town. Belle Chasse had other ideas.

The Cardinals staged a furious second half rally to overcome Ponchatoula 4-3 for its third straight victory.

Freshman Jorge Martinez scored a pair of goals, junior Michael Rodriguez had a goal and an assist and juniors Luis Giron and Oscar Pineda each added a goal for the Cardinals.

Belle Chasse (3-2) returns to action Thursday at Central Lafourche at 6 p.m. while Ponchatoula (3-5-2) lost its third straight match and returns to action at home against Franklinton Thursday at 6 p.m.

Jesuit held off Destrehan 3-2 at John Ryan Stadium.

Jesuit led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Sebi Maraldo before Lucas Morse and Matthew Busenlener scored goals in the second half for the Blue Jays.

Jesuit (6-0-3) returns to action Friday at 5 p.m. at Catholic of Baton Rouge in a battle of highly ranked Division I teams while the Wildcats (4-3-1) play at East Jefferson next Tuesday.
