That noted college football philosopher Michael Gerard Tyson once said “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.”

Well, LSU was basically knocked out of national championship contention with its 55-49 loss to Ole Miss last week.

But never fear, Uncle Pdub usually lands from strong jabs and body blows with his “Saturday Seven” picks, and one of the “Sports Takes Sure To Be Wrong (Although We Know The Majority Of These Will Be Right)” calls for some redemption.

Last week was another good 5-2 week, but I have high expectations every week.

Remember, Tulane has a bye this week.

No. 23 LSU 41, No. 21 Missouri 34. You can pretty much bet the mortgage that LSU will play better this week. The temptation is to pick Missouri, because it has been pretty good and is playing at home, but I believe in Baton Rouge pride. I would hate to be LSU coach Brian Kelly next week if the Tigers lost this game.

No. 3 Texas 28, No. 12 Oklahoma 24. Get your popcorn ready for this Red River Shootout. I think this one will go down to the wire. I see a loss in Texas’ future, but not today. Oklahoma hasn’t been able to produce a big-time win since Lincoln Riley left for L.A. The Longhorns have too much talent.

No. 20 Kentucky 23, No. 1 Georgia 20. Here it is, an Upset Special to rank among Upset Specials. Kentucky is a huge underdog, but young, two-time defending national champion Georgia has had some on-the-job training in its games against SEC teams this season. The Bulldogs are due to lose. This could be the day.

No. 10 Notre Dame 34, No. 25 Louisville 22. The Cardinals are still pretenders. Notre Dame will bring them back down to earth.

No. 4 Ohio State 42, Maryland 23. The Terps always seem to put up big numbers early in the season until they play the elite teams in the Big 10. That will be the case today.

UCLA 31, No. 13 Washington State 27. Washington State is 4-0, UCLA is 3-1, but the only place this will be an upset is in the standings. I think the Bruins running game will win the day.

No. 11 Alabama 27, Texas A&M 17. The Tide will have a tough time in College Station, but that will be just another excuse for them to celebrate by eating some barbecue on the way home. A bad day for Texas A&M will turn up the heat on Jimbo Fisher even higher.
