New Orleans Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Anzalone left the first quarter of Sunday’s game in London after suffering an apparent right shoulder injury. He had two surgeries related to his shoulder during an injury-plagued college career at Florida.

A third-round pick out of Florida this year, Anzalone quickly impressed in New Orleans and earned a starting job at weakside linebacker. Now the Saints will likely move forward with Craig Robertson as Anzalone’s replacement.

Anzalone is the the second starter placed on IR by the Saints this week, joining right tackle Zach Strief (knee).
