Ragin’ Cajuns to face Liberty in home-and-home football series

LAFAYETTE – Officials from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Liberty University announced on Wednesday a home-and-home football series between the institutions beginning in the 2019 season.

The meetings, the first ever between the schools, will begin on Sept. 7, 2019 at Cajun Field. Louisiana will travel to visit the Flames, competing as an FBS Independent, at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va., on Nov. 20, 2021.

The addition of Liberty in 2019 will give Louisiana a pair of home games on its non-conference schedule with its season opener set for Aug. 31 against Mississippi State in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. During the 2019 season, Louisiana will play at Ohio on Sept. 21 and is scheduled to host Tulsa on Sept. 28 at Cajun Field.

The Ragin’ Cajuns scheduled 2019 contest at New Mexico State is being moved to Oct. 24, 2020.

In 2021, Louisiana will travel to face Arizona State (Sept. 4) and Liberty (Nov. 20) while facing Ohio on Sept. 18 at Cajun Field.
