Rylan James

Loranger freshman running back Rylan James has been selected as the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club, Crescent City Sports, NASH ICON 106.1 FM and Friday Night Football Prep Player of the Week for week seven of the prep football season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

James rushed 29 times for 404 yards and five touchdowns and returned two kickoffs for 84 yards as the Wolves outscored Archbishop Hannan 79-54.

Coached by Sam Messina, James will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, December 12 at The Cannery.

“He’s a special kid with a great future,” Messina said. “He has enjoyed a special season. Throughout the season, he’s just been a steady performer. He plays with a maturity level you don’t see at that age. He’s learned to be a good running back. We are fortunate to have him.”

The next meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club is Tuesday, October 24 at noon, featuring Allstate Sugar Bowl Executive Director Jeff Hundley, Tulane Deputy Athletic Director Kortne Gosha, former LSU star Marlon Favorite, former New Orleans Saints quarterback John Fourcade and Newman coach Nelson Stewart.
