There was just one game played Wednesday in the Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League and it was a great one.

Bryce Hebert singled in Nate Alario in the top of the ninth inning to lift the John Curtis Christian-based River Ridge Patriots to a thrilling 8-7 win over St. Charles Catholic-based Cretin Townsend Homes at Comet Field in LaPlace.

Alario was running for Tyler Mitchel, who had walked. Alario stole second to put himself in scoring position for the single by Hebert.

In a wild contest, Cretin Townsend Homes took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning but River Ridge took its first lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning and added a run in the top of the fifth to lead 3-1. The Comets tied it with two runs in the bottom of the fifth but the Patriots erupted, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth and carried a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Cretin Townsend Homes staged a furious rally, scoring four runs to tie it, sending it into extra innings.

Hebert had two hits and an RBI while Dagan Bruno had three hits and an RBI for the Patriots. Dylan Gilbert added a hit and an RBI while Jason Curtis and Isaiah Spann each drove in a run.

Kolston Martinez, the third pitcher of the game for the Patriots, picked up the win in relief, going three innings, allowing four unearned runs on two hits. Hebert started and pitched four strong innings, allowing a run on three hits. Aiden Karr pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs.

Noah Troxclair, the fourth pitcher of the game for the Comets, took the loss. Jackson Monica started and pitched well, going five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits. Dax Pregeant and Owen Faucheux followed Monica on the mound.
