River Ridge Patriots handle Gulf Coast Bank & Trust, 8-1

The John Curtis Christian-based River Ridge Patriots are getting hot in the Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League.

The Patriots won again Thursday, battering Mandeville-based Gulf Coast Bank & Trust 8-1 at Mike Miley Stadium.

River Ridge scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed.

The Skippers scored a run in the second inning but that would be all. The Patriots a run in the second, a run in the fourth and four runs in the sixth inning, including a 2-run homer by Jeffrey Curtis.

Bryce Hebert doubled home a run while Aiden Austin, Dagan Bruno and Trey Davis each drove in a run.

Juan Washington started and went two innings and was credited with the win, allowing one run. Davis pitched three shutout innings in relief while Austin and Dylan Gilbert each hurled a scoreless inning.

Jack Connaughton drove in the lone run for the Skippers. Reagen Touchstone started and took the loss.

River Ridge (4-2-1) returns to action Monday, hosting Lakeshore at Harahan Playground.

Gulf Coast Bank & Trust (3-3) will host Lakeshore next Tuesday.
