Zion Williamson has not played a game for the Pelicans this season. It appears he won’t anytime soon.

Christian Clark of The Times-Picayune reports the New Orleans forward may need another surgery on his injured right foot:

LWilliamson was supposed to return to practice in December, but he began experiencing soreness in his right foot. That month, he flew to Los Angeles to have an injection to promote healing. It is possible he will need a second surgery on his right foot, sources said, but nothing has been decided.

Williamson has been in Oregon away from the team in efforts to recover from the first surgery. He previously had an injection in Los Angeles to help promote healing.

Unfortunately, there is precedent for a longer than hoped recovery from this type of injury. Kevin Durant and Ben Smmons experienced similary setbacks from that type of fracture.
