Having a franchise quarterback is a huge deal. Sometimes you’ll willing to make a huge deal – and gamble – to acquire one.

The New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers have made trade offers for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Sunday. It is expected both NFC South teams will meet with Watson on Monday night, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Watson would have to waive a no-trade clause to be dealt.

A grand jury on Friday did not find enough evidence to levy criminal charges against Watson following allegations of sexual misconduct stemming from massage therapy sessions. The 26-year old still faces 22 civil lawsuits.

Watson sat out the entire 2021 season, listed as a roster inactive while still receving pay. The former Clemson star requested a trade from the Texans before the allegations surfaced publicly.
