Les Miles continues to concentrate recruiting efforts in the state of Louisiana as the head coach at Kansas, as we all thought that he would. Former Warren Easton head coach Tony Hull has established territory in the Pelican state as a Jayhawks assistant. Their efforts paid dividends again Tuesday.

St. Augustine linebacker Taiwan Berryhill became the 21st overall commitment to the KU program for the 2020 class. He joins three other locals in that group – OLB Kershawn Fisher (Slidell), DE Khari Coleman (Carver) and DT Kenean Caldwell (Oak Grove).

Berryhill, who holds a 3.2 GPA, has offers from Kansas, ULM, La. Tech, UTSA, Indiana, Colorado State, UNLV, North Texas, Tulane, Southern Miss, Memphis, Tennessee, South Alabama and Nicholls.

Tough to block, Berryhill is a fine athlete who uses his hands well. He is good in contain and shows good leverage. The 6-foot, 200 pounder flies off the edge. His responsibilities in the Purple Knight defense require him to pass rush, cover receivers in space and play against the run. The relentless Berryhill could end up as a safety or hybrid defender at the next level.
