Tulane is hoping to wrap up the bulk of their 2022 class with a good early signing period on Wednesday.

The Green Wave came closer to reaching their ultimate goal Monday with the commitment of three-star offensive tackle Sullivan “Sully” Burns out of Plano, Texas. He verbally pledged to Tulane over offers from Louisiana Tech, Florida International, Stephen F. Austin and Incarnate Word.

Burns represents Tulane’s 14th commitment for the ’22 class.

A hulking presence at over 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, Burns lined up at left tackle in high school. He demonstrates good balance, drives off the ball, makes pancake blocks, keeps his feet moving and handles pass protection. Burns maintains good positioning on outside zone plays, which is not easy for someone with his length but has good mobility in short space and can move laterally well.

Burns also holds a 3.42 GPA, squats 450 pounds and negotiates the 40-yard dash in under 5.1 seconds.
