Tulane has experienced success thus far for the 2023 recruiting class reeling in prospects from around the country.
On Sunday, the Green Wave reportedly secured a verbal pledge from a player not far up I-10, East Ascension running back Walter Samuel. He received his Tulane offer May 14.

The 6-foot, 200 pounder has somewhat flown under the radar but he has the skills that can allow him to contribute early. Samuel considered offers from Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, ULM, Southern Miss and South Alabama. He has earned All District and All Ascension Parish honors at EA.
Samuel creates space when it appears there is no hole to run through. He can stick his foot in the ground and accelerate. His great vision makes him a dangerous open field runner. He also runs with power but the breakaway threat with 4.38 is coveted as a potential game breaker. He models his style after Saints’ Alvin Kamara as a runner and receiver.

He also tacked on 111 yards receiving on just three grabs, with one catch going 74 yards for a score. His spartans went onto a 26-20 win.
Samuel also tallied four touchdowns against rival Dutchtown last season.
