On the heels of LSU head coach Ed Orgeron’s statement that the Tigers need to get better upfront, the Purple and Gold upgraded that area with an eye towards the future.

Offensive tackle Courtland Ford, a coveted 2020 prospect, has committed to LSU over Alabama, Georgia, TCU and Baylor. He also fielded offers from Nebraska, Indiana, Boston College, Oregon, Texas Tech, Colorado and Ole Miss.

Listed as the eighth best overall prospect in the state of Texas for the ’20 class, Ford is ranked as the 23rd ranked offensive lineman in the nation by 247 Sports.

The 6-foot-6, 305 pounder from Cedar Hill, Texas is light on his feet as a left tackle. He displays good pad level, drives opponent, plays with balance, pass blocks well, uses a solid kick step, possesses super feet and doesn’t lunge at opponent. He gets to the second level quickly.

His verbal pledge represents the sixth for LSU in the 2020 class.
