NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Chris Turpin and Jacob Lamkin combined for 15 strikeouts and the New Orleans Privateers (10-7, 5-0) employed aggressive baserunning in a 6-4 win over the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (2-11, 0-5) on Friday at Jaycees Field.

STRIKEOUTS A PLENTY
Turpin entered the night second in the Southland in strikeouts and added 12 more to that total over 5.2 innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) in a no-decision. Lamkin struck out three including a pivotal strikeout and an ensuing caught stealing by Jorge Tejeda that ended the eighth inning.

TAKING THE LEAD
New Orleans took the lead in the seventh on a ball that never left the infield. Travis Gober singled toward the middle and Iza made a break for home after there was no play anywhere in the field. His run made it 5-4 in favor of the Privateers.

The Privateers added another run in the ninth inning. Stephen F. Austin had Gober caught in a rundown but Gober got back to first safely. Meanwhile, Pearce Howard kept running and scored from second in the process to extend the lead to 6-4.

THE BUILD UP
The Privateers trailed after the first inning and again at 3-1 after the third. The Lumberjacks posted six hits in those two frames, all singles. However, New Orleans rallied back to take their first lead of the game in the fifth.

Gaige and Pearce Howard both collected singles and Iza drew a walk to load the bases. That set the stage for Issac Williams who dropped a double into right that scored two runs. Iza later came home on a passed ball to give New Orleans a 4-3 lead.

The Lumberjacks tied the game in the sixth. Turpin appeared to induce a pop out on a bunt attempt by Sean Moore but it was wiped out by a balk call. Stephen F. Austin took advantage and after the bases got loaded, Cameron Crawford was hit by a pitch that tied the game.

FINAL STATS
Darren Willis went 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Howard reached base four times (two singles, a walk, and a hit by pitch). Iza and Williams each recorded a double and two walks. Gaige Howard, Luther Woullard and Tejeda each had a hit. Gober reached base twice.

For Stephen F. Austin, Angelo Gennari gave up four runs (three earned) in five innings. Benny Emmons took the loss after allowing a run on two hits and two walks in 1.2 innings.
