Call it order restored.

After drilling Catholic of New Iberia in the regular season a year ago, Notre Dame got drilled in the Division III state championship game by the Panthers.

As of this past Friday, the Pios restored order in the class, at least, in their minds.

Notre Dame exacted revenge in huge fashion, crushing Catholic 49-0 in a game shortened by weather this past Friday night. As a result, Lewis Cook’s team moves up to the top spot in Class 2A in the our Week Five CrescentCitySports.com Top 10 rankings.

Upstart Country Day moves up to second in Division III following a thrilling 11-10 come-from-behind victory over always tough St. Charles Catholic. Joe Chango’s Cajuns already have a huge win over Amite. Speaking of the Warriors, they are up to third with Catholic of New Iberia dropping to fourth and Dunham fifth.

There are no changes at the top in Class 5A where John Curtis Christian and West Monroe remain the top teams. The Patriots were impressive in a district opening win over Brother Martin while the Rebels took care of Noxubee County, MS. Unbeaten Acadiana is third with defending Division I state champ Catholic of Baton Rouge fourth after a huge win over St. Thomas More and defending 5A state champion Zachary is fifth. Unbeaten Holy Cross is ninth ahead of its showdown with rival Jesuit and East Ascension moves in at No. 10.

Two-time defending state champion Karr fought off a stiff challenge from Carver to remain first in Class 4A while idle Warren Easton is second. The Eagles face a monster match against John Curtis Thursday night in the best matchup in Louisiana this week. Lakeshore moves up to third with St. Thomas More falling to fourth and Neville is fifth. Bastrop is now ninth and Plaquemine cracks the top 10 in the tenth spot.

Defending Division II state champ University High blanked West Feliciana to remain on top in Class 3A with Jena second. Church Point is solid in third while unbeaten Archbishop Hannan moves up to fourth and Sterlington is fifth. Unbeaten Eunice moves into the top 10 at No. 9.

In 1A, Kentwood got a big win over 4A Franklin Parish to remain on top with Oak Grove second. Southern Lab is third with Haynesville fourth and Logansport fifth. Defending 1A state titlist West St. John falls to tenth after a loss to 4A Plaquemine. The Rams have played a very tough schedule, as has Southern Lab.
