In Non-Select Division I, No. 8 Mandeville completed a sweep of No. 24 Neville, winning 1-0 Friday. The Skippers did not allow a run in the two wins over the Tigers.

Senior Kyle Charrier provided the series win with a gem, pitching a no-hitter Friday. Charrier walked two and struck out five in a brilliant performance.

Scoreless into the top of the sixth inning, the Skippers scratched across the game-winning run on an RBI single by Tyler Fischer following singles by Charrier and Mason Hickman.

Tanner Nguyen pitched extremely well in a losing cause. Nguyen allowed just six hits and recorded five strikeouts.

Mandeville (27-7) advances to play at defending state champion and No. 1 seed Barbe in the quarterfinals next weekend. The Buccaneers advanced with a two-game sweep of rival and No. 17 seed Sulphur.

In Non-Select Division II, top-seeded Lutcher advanced, pummeling No. 17 Jennings 14-2 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule to advance to the quarterfinals.

LSU commit Marshall Louque had two hits, including a home run. LSU-Eunice commit Caleb Hastings had three hits, including a double and three RBI. Nicholls commit Luke Babin had two hits and two RBI, Nunez commit Brock Louque had a hit and two RBI, Chad Carter Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Kai Brown drove in a run for the Bulldogs.

Southeastern Louisiana commit Quinn Smith picked up the win, going four innings, allowing a run on three hits with seven strikeouts. Smith helped his cause with two hits and two RBI.

Tyler Daigle took the loss for Jennings, allowing 10 runs (six earned) in four innings. Maddox Hebert had two hits and an RBI for the visiting Bulldogs.

Lutcher (27-7) will host No. 9 North DeSoto in the quarterfinals next weekend. North DeSoto defeated No. 8 Rayne two games to one.

No. 10 Pearl River advanced to the quarterfinals. The Rebels lost game two 11-6 to No. 7 West Feliciana before turning the tables and beating West Feliciana 11-6 to win the series two games to one.

The Rebels (25-8) advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the series between No. 15 Belle Chasse and No. 2 Iota. The Cardinals beat Iota 6-4 in game one Friday. Game two is at noon today with game three, if needed, to follow.
